We have two laser labs equipped for nonlinear surface-selective spectroscopy.
Lab 614 at SSC
This set-up is based on a unique custom-built amplified femtosecond Ti:Sapphire laser system by Coherent, Inc.
Femtosecond oscillator: MICRA (pumped by Coherent Verdi 5W CW laser, 532 nm).
Amplifier pump laser: Evolution-HE, 90W @ 527 nm, 3-10 kHz.
Ti:S amplifier: Legend Elite DUO-HP, average output power: 14 W (800 nm) at 3-10 kHz repetition rate (tunable),
40 fs pulse width (~400 cm-1 spectral width).
Optical parametric amplifier: TOPAS-800-fs + NDFG, mid-IR output tunable 3-20mm.
Spectrometer: Princeton Instruments ARC-SP-2558 500 mm monochromator.
Detection: Princeton Instruments SPEC-10 LN2 cooled CCD (512x2054 pixles).

Lab 616 at SSC
Here we have a versatile set-up for performing both vibrational and electronic surface-selective spectroscopy.
Oscillator: KM Labs (pumped by SpectraPhysics Millenia 5W CW laser, 532 nm).
Amplifier pump laser: Evolution-30, up to 30W @ 527 nm, 1 kHz.
Ti:S amplifier: average output power: 4 W (800 nm) at 1 kHz repetition rate, 40 fs pulse width (~400 cm-1 spectral width).
The amplified output is split 30-70 to pump 2 Optical parametric amplifiers (OPAs):
70% of the amplified output pumps an short -pulse (femtosecond) IR-OPA: : TOPAS-800-fs + NDFG, mid-IR output tunable 3-20 mm.
30% of the amplified output goes through a cross-chirp SHG to generate narrow-band (picosecond) 400 nm pulses of tunable spectral width (2-10 cm-1), which are used to pump vis-OPA: TOPAS-400-ps, output tunable from 450 - 750 nm (signal) and 900 - 2000 nm (idler).
Spectrometer 1: Princeton Instruments ARC-SP-2558 500 mm monochromator.
Detection: Princeton Instruments SPEC-10 LN2 cooled CCD (512x2054 pixles).
Spectrometer 2: Roper Scientific Spectra-Pro-300i 300 mm monochromator.
Detection: Princeton Instruments SPEC-10 LN2 cooled CCD (100x1340 pixels)

Laser Lab Climate Control
Our laser labs area equipped with an autonomous state-of-the-art climate control system. The temperature and humidity are constantly monitored at several positions in the labs as well as in the key points of the air-handling system. History charts of the temperature and humidity fluctuations can be plotted over 1 day to 1/2 year period (requires Internet Explorer).
